Account Groups

Learn how to organize accounts into groups, view group performance on the Calendar with customizable tooltip stats, and compare groups on the Cumulative P&L chart.

Account Groups let you organize your trading accounts into logical collections — such as by firm (Topstep, Apex), strategy (Scalping, Swing), or risk profile (Evaluation, Funded) — so you can analyze performance at the group level across the Calendar, Cumulative P&L chart, and Quick Select dropdowns.

How Account Grouping Works

Core Concepts+

Core Concepts

  • Account Selection Group: A named collection of accounts with an assigned color, visibility settings, and optional display in Calendar day cells and Quick Select menus.
  • Account Membership: An account can belong to multiple groups (e.g., "Topstep" and "Evaluations").
  • Show In Calendar Day Cells: Whether the group appears as a chip in Calendar day cells (per-account mode).
  • Show In Quick Select: Whether the group appears in the account filter Quick Select dropdown in the toolbar.

How to Group Accounts

Open the Account Groups dialog from the main toolbar (group icon) or via the Calendar Settings → Accounts tab.

Step 1: Create a New Group+

Step 1: Create a New Group

  1. Click New Group in the Account Groups panel.
  2. Enter a name (e.g., "Topstep Evaluations", "Funded Accounts", "Scalping").
  3. Pick a color using the color swatch — this color appears on chips, chart lines, and calendar cells.
  4. Toggle In Quick Select and In Calendar as desired (both default to ON).
  5. The new group starts with zero accounts; you’ll add them in the next step.
Step 2: Assign Accounts to Groups (Preferred Method)+

Step 2: Assign Accounts to Groups (Preferred Method)

Use the Edit Group dialog for the most efficient way to add/remove accounts:

  1. In the Account Groups panel (right side), click the pencil icon next to the group you want to edit.
  2. The Edit dialog opens with a dual-list selector: Available Accounts (left) and Accounts in Group (right).
  3. Move accounts between lists using the arrow buttons or by dragging.
  4. Use the search box above each list to filter accounts quickly.
  5. Click Save in the dialog to apply changes.

Why this method? The dual-list selector shows all accounts at once, makes bulk changes easy, and avoids repetitive per-account clicks.

Alternative: Assign via Accounts Panel (per-account chips)+

Alternative: Assign via Accounts Panel

In the Accounts panel (left side of the dialog):

  1. Use the Filter Account Name box to find accounts quickly.
  2. Use the Filter Account Groups box to show only accounts in a specific group.
  3. For each account, click the Account Groups autocomplete chip field.
  4. Select one or more groups from the dropdown (chips appear inline).
  5. Remove a group by clicking the chip’s × button.
  6. An account can belong to multiple groups simultaneously.

Tip: Enable "Show Archived" to manage groups for archived accounts too.

Best for: quick one-off changes to a single account’s groups.

Step 3: Save+

Step 3: Save

Click Save in the dialog footer. Changes are persisted immediately and synced if you’re signed in.

Unsaved changes show a discard warning if you try to close the dialog.

Viewing Account Groups on the Calendar

The Calendar supports a Per Account mode that shows each account (or account group) as a colored chip on each trading day. Hover a chip to see detailed tooltip stats.

Enable Per-Account Mode+

Enable Per-Account Mode

  1. Open Calendar Settings (gear icon in the Calendar header).
  2. Go to the General tab.
  3. Toggle Show per account ON.
  4. (Optional) Toggle Group by account template ON to aggregate by Account Group instead of individual accounts.
  5. (Optional) Toggle Use Template Color ON to color chips by group color instead of P&L green/red.
  6. Click Save.

Note: "Group by account template" requires at least one Account Group with showInCalendarDayCells = true.

Calendar Day Cell Display+

Calendar Day Cell Display

  • Individual account mode: Each account with trades that day shows as a chip labeled Account: PnL.
  • Grouped Account mode: Each Account Group with trades that day shows as a chip labeled Group: PnL (colored by group color if enabled).
  • Saturday cells: Show a weekly summary row with the same chips.
  • Overflow: If more accounts/groups exist than the cell limit, a +N more chip appears with a tooltip listing the hidden ones.
Customize Tooltip Stats+

Customize Tooltip Stats

When you hover an account/group chip on the Calendar, a tooltip shows the primary metric (default: Total PnL) plus additional stats you configure.

Quick Select Dropdown+

Quick Select Dropdown

Groups with In Quick Select = ON appear in the account filter dropdown in the main toolbar.

  • Selecting a group filters all views (Calendar, Analytics, Charts) to only that group's accounts.
  • The dropdown shows the group name with its color swatch.
  • This is the fastest way to switch between "All Topstep", "All Funded", "Scalping Accounts", etc.

Viewing Group Lines on the Cumulative P&L Chart

The Cumulative P&L chart (in Analytics) supports a Group By: Account Groups mode that draws one line per Account Group.

Enable Account Groups Grouping+

Enable Account Groups Grouping

  1. Open an Analytics workspace (or add a Cumulative P&L chart widget).
  2. In the chart's configuration (gear icon or chart template dialog), find Group By Dimension.
  3. Select Account Groups from the dropdown.
  4. The chart will now render one cumulative P&L line per Account Group (using the group's color).
  5. Only groups with showInCalendarDayCells = true are included by default.
Chart Behavior & Features+

Chart Behavior & Features

  • Line per group: Each Account Selection Group becomes a separate series/line.
  • Color: Uses the group's assigned color from the Account Groups dialog.
  • Sorting: Legend and lines are sorted by final cumulative P&L (best performer top).
  • Tooltip: Hover any point to see the group name, timestamp, cumulative P&L, and additional tooltip stats (see below).
  • Click a point: Opens the trade that generated that P&L increment.
  • Zero line: A horizontal mark line at $0 helps visualize drawdowns.
Customize Cumulative P&L Tooltip Stats+

  • Open the chart's template menu → Save as… (e.g., "Account Groups P&L").
  • Switch templates anytime from the same menu.
  • Templates are shared across workspaces.

Best Practices

Organizing by Firm+

Organizing by Firm

  • Create one group per prop firm (Topstep, Apex, TradeDay, etc.).
  • Enable In Quick Select for fast firm-level filtering.
  • Enable In Calendar to see each firm's daily P&L chips side-by-side.
  • Use distinct colors per firm (e.g., Topstep green, Apex blue, TradeDay orange).
Organizing by Stage (Evaluation vs Funded)+

Organizing by Stage (Evaluation vs Funded)

  • Create "Evaluations" and "Funded" groups.
  • An account can be in both "Topstep" and "Evaluations" simultaneously.
  • On the Cumulative P&L chart, compare Evaluation vs Funded performance across all firms.
Organizing by Strategy+

Organizing by Strategy

  • If you run multiple strategies on different accounts, group by strategy (Scalping, Swing, Trend).
  • Use the Cumulative P&L chart to compare strategy equity curves.
  • Enable tooltip stats like Win Rate, Profit Factor, Expectancy to compare strategy quality.
Managing Many Accounts+

Managing Many Accounts

  • Use the Filter Account Groups box in the Account Groups dialog to find accounts in a specific group.
  • Archive old accounts (Account Settings → Archive) to hide them from the main list; enable "Show Archived" in the dialog to manage their groups.
  • Limit "In Calendar" groups to 5–7 for readable day cells; too many chips overflow to "+N more".
  • Use Chart Templates to save different group-by views (by firm, by stage, by strategy).
