Calendar Configuration

Configure the Gainway Calendar across Dashboard, Calendar page, and Analytics. Learn about per-account mode, group-by-template, calendar templates, stats chips, day/weekly stats, and account tooltip customization.

The Calendar component appears in three locations across Gainway Edge, and each instance can be configured independently with its own settings, templates, and display preferences. This guide covers all available configuration options, template management, and how settings apply per calendar instance.

Calendar Instances in Gainway

Gainway includes the Calendar component in three distinct views. Each maintains its own persistent settings , so you can tailor each view for its specific purpose.

  • Dashboard Calendar (Month Mode) — month mode, quick monthly overview alongside Cumulative P&L chart and Trading Statistics sidebar
  • Calendar Page (Continuous Mode) — continuous vertical scroll of weeks, full-screen for deep day/week analysis
  • Analytics Calendar Widgets (Analytics) — Add via "Add Widget" → Calendar, can be month or continuous mode per widget instance

Note: Each calendar is fully independent — you can have one in month mode showing overview and another in continuous mode for detailed week-by-week analysis.

Opening Calendar Settings

Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the Calendar header (top-right of the calendar card) to open the Calendar Settings dialog. The dialog contains three tabs: General, Chips, andAccounts (when Per-Account mode is enabled).

Per-Account Mode Details

  • Each account with trades on a given day renders as a chip: AccountName: $PnL
  • Chips are colored by P&L (green positive, red negative) unless "Use Template Color" is enabled with grouping
  • Hover a chip to see a tooltip with the primary stat + configured tooltip stats
  • Saturday cells show a weekly summary row (same chips aggregated for the week)
  • If more accounts/groups exist than the cell limit, a +N more chip appears with a tooltip listing hidden items

Group by Account Template Details

  • Uses Account Selection Groups with showInCalendarDayCells = true
  • Each group becomes one chip showing aggregated P&L for all accounts in that group
  • Group color overrides P&L color when "Use Template Color" is ON
  • Accounts not in any group with showInCalendarDayCells = true appear as individual chips (ungrouped)
Chips Tab — Overall / Day / Weekly / Account Tooltip Stats+

Chips Tab — Overall / Day / Weekly / Account Tooltip Stats

The Chips tab contains four sub-sections, each controlling a different stats display area:

1. Overall Stats (Chips)

Horizontal stat chips displayed at the top of the calendar (above the grid).

  • Drag to reorder: Drag chips left/right to change display order
  • Toggle visibility: Click the eye icon to show/hide each stat
  • Available stats: Total PnL, Profit Factor, Expectancy, Win Rate, Trading Days, Total Trades, Avg Hold Time, Total Volume
  • Default visible: Total PnL, Profit Factor, Expectancy, Win Rate, Trading Days, Total Trades, Avg Hold Time, Total Volume

2. Day Stats

Stats shown inside each day cell (when not in per-account mode) or below the date.

  • Same drag-to-reorder and toggle-visibility interface
  • Available stats: Total PnL, Total Trades, Win Rate, Avg Hold Time, Total Volume
  • Default visible: Total PnL, Total Trades, Win Rate, Avg Hold Time, Total Volume

3. Weekly Stats

Stats shown on Saturday cells (weekly summary row in continuous mode).

  • Copy Day sync: When "Copy Day" is ON (General tab), Day stats are automatically copied to Weekly stats — changes to Day stats propagate to Weekly
  • When "Copy Day" is OFF, Weekly stats can be configured independently
  • Available stats: Same as Day stats
  • Default visible: Total PnL, Total Trades, Win Rate, Avg Hold Time, Total Volume

4. Account Tooltip Stats

Additional stats shown when hovering an account/group chip in Per-Account mode.

  • The first visible stat becomes the chip label (e.g., "Account: $1,234.56")
  • Remaining visible stats appear in the hover tooltip
  • Available stats: Balance, Total PnL, Drawdown, Trade Count, Trading Days
  • Default visible: Total PnL, Trading Days
  • Default chip label: Total PnL (since it's first in default order)

Tip: Use the "Reset" button in each section to restore that section's defaults without affecting other sections.

Accounts Tab — Primary Stat per Account+

Accounts Tab — Primary Stat per Account

Only visible when Per-Account mode is enabled (General tab).

Primary Stat per Account

Dropdown to select which statistic is shown as the main label on each account/group chip.

  • Options: Total PnL, Profit Factor, Expectancy, Win Rate, Trading Days, Total Trades, Avg Hold Time, Total Volume
  • Default: Total PnL
  • This selection is saved per calendar instance

Account Tooltip Stats (repeated from Chips tab)

Same configuration as the Account Tooltip Stats section in the Chips tab — shown here for convenience when working in Per-Account mode.

Calendar Settings Templates

Calendar Settings Templates let you save a complete snapshot of all calendar settings (General, Chips, Accounts) and apply them to any calendar instance. This is the fastest way to replicate a configuration across the Dashboard, Calendar page, and Analytics widgets.

What a Template Captures+

What a Template Captures

A template saves the complete CalendarSettingsTemplateConfigPreference object:

  • General settings: Copy Day, Reverse Weeks, Per-Account Mode, Group by Template, Use Template Color, Account Stat Key
  • Overall chips: Order + visibility
  • Day stats: Order + visibility
  • Weekly stats: Order + visibility
  • Account Tooltip stats: Order + visibility

Note: Templates do NOT capture the actual trade data or filtered date range — only display/configuration settings.

Template Menu (in Calendar Settings Dialog Footer)+

Template Menu (in Calendar Settings Dialog Footer)

Click Template in the dialog footer to open the template menu:

  1. Save as… — Opens a dialog to name and save current settings as a new template
  2. Apply defaults — Resets all settings to factory defaults (same as clicking Reset in each section)
  3. Template list — Click any saved template to apply it immediately. Active template is highlighted.
  4. Delete template — Hover a template → click trash icon → confirm deletion

Template Behavior

  • Applying a template immediately updates all settings tabs (General, Chips, Accounts)
  • Changes are not auto-saved — click Save in the dialog to persist
  • You can preview a template by clicking it, then cancel the dialog to discard
  • Templates are global (shared across all calendar instances for your user)

Best Practices

Dashboard vs Calendar Page vs Analytics+

Dashboard vs Calendar Page vs Analytics

  • Dashboard: Keep it clean — Month mode, minimal chips (PnL, Win Rate, Trades), Per-Account OFF. It's a quick glance alongside Cumulative P&L.
  • Calendar Page: Go deep — Continuous mode, Copy Day ON, full Day/Weekly stats, Per-Account ON with Group by Template for firm/strategy comparison.
  • Analytics Widgets: Create focused widgets — one Month mode for overview, one Continuous mode for detail. Use templates to keep them consistent.
Account Group Setup for Calendar+

Account Group Setup for Calendar

To use Group by Account Template effectively:

  1. Create Account Groups in the Account Groups dialog (toolbar group icon)
  2. Enable In Calendar for groups you want to see as chips
  3. Assign accounts to groups (an account can be in multiple groups)
  4. In Calendar Settings → General: enable Per-Account → Group by Template → Use Template Color
  5. In Chips → Account Tooltip: set first stat to your preferred primary metric (e.g., Total PnL or Balance)
  6. Save as a template (e.g., "Firm Comparison") for reuse across instances
Performance Tips+

Performance Tips

  • Limit "In Calendar" groups to 5–7 for readable day cells; more groups overflow to "+N more"
  • Disable Day/Weekly stats you don't need — fewer DOM nodes = smoother scrolling in Continuous mode
  • Use "Copy Day = ON" to keep Day and Weekly stats in sync automatically
  • Templates are instant — create a "Presentation" template with minimal stats for screenshots
