The Trade Log is your primary workspace for reviewing, analyzing, and managing individual trades. It displays trades in a configurable table with powerful sorting, column customization, and inline tagging capabilities.
š Key Concept: Global Filter Context
The Trade Log respects the global filter state (Account Selection, Date Range, Trade Filters, Display Mode). Changes made in the Filter modal, Date Range picker, or Account modal instantly affect the Trade Log ā and vice versa. See Filtering & Date Ranges for details.

The available columns depend on the current Display Mode (Trade vs Group/Idea).
Show / Hide Columns+ā

In the Configure Columns tab, a dual-list selector (list shuttle) lets you manage column visibility and order with drag-and-drop:
- Left list (Available) ā columns not currently shown; drag a column to the right list to show it
- Right list (Visible) ā columns currently in the table; drag a column to the left list to hide it
- Reorder ā drag rows within the Visible list to change column order
- Changes apply immediately; click Save to persist
Hidden columns are not rendered (better performance on wide tables).

Custom Tag Type Columns
What Are Tag Type Columns?+ā
What Are Tag Type Columns?
When you create a Tag Type in Tag Manager with Allow Individual Column checkbox, Gainway automatically generates a dedicated column for that tag type in the Trade and Group tables.
These columns show the tag values from that specific tag type for each row, enabling you to:
- Sort by tag value (e.g., group all "ORB" setup trades together)
- Filter by tag via column header filter menu
- Inline edit tags directly in the table
- See at a glance which setup/mistake/psychology tag applies to each trade
Enabling Tag Type Columns+ā
Enabling Tag Type Columns
- Go to Tag Manager (toolbar ā Tags icon ā Manage Tag Types).
- Create a new Tag Type or edit an existing one.
- Enable Allow Individual Column Display.
- Save.
The new column (named after the Tag Type, e.g., "Setup", "Mistake", "Psychology") automatically appears in the Column Settings dialog for Trade and Group tables. Toggle it on to show.
Inline Tag Editing in Table+ā
Inline Tag Editing in Table
Tag Type columns support inline editing:
- Click a tag cell to open the Tag Select Dialog for that specific tag type.
- Select one or more tags from the available list.
- Click Apply ā the tag is added/removed from the trade(s) immediately.
- For multiple selected rows, the tag change applies to all selected trades.
This is the fastest way to tag trades in bulk without opening the Trade Form dialog.
Checkbox & Rating Tag Type Columns+ā
Checkbox & Rating Tag Type Columns
A tag type created with the Checkbox or Rating (1-5) format also gets its own column when Allow Individual Column is on. Instead of tag chips, these columns hold one interactive value per row:
- Checkbox column: click a cell to cycle checked / unchecked (3-state types also pass through an undefined state).
- Rating column: click a star to rate 1ā5; clicking the current rating clears it.
- Bulk apply: select multiple rows, then change one cell to update every selected row at once.
See Tagging ā Value Formats for creating checkbox/rating tag types, and Chart Guide for visualizing them in Analytics.
Sorting & Filtering by Tag Columns+ā
Sorting & Filtering by Tag Columns
