Analytics Templates

Create, edit, favorite, copy, import, and export Analytics page and chart templates. Learn how to manage templates, edit your layout, and work with widgets.

Analytics Templates are saved layouts of widgets on your analytics page. Arrange charts and data widgets however you like, save the layout as a template, then switch between templates instantly to match different workflows — daily review, weekly deep dive, trade analysis, and more.

Templates are saved to your account and available from any browser. Use the designer FAB to switch between templates.

Managing Templates

Create a Template+

Create a Template

Open the full-screen designer and click the FAB (floating action button) at the bottom-right, then choose New Template. Give your template a name and optional description, then click Create. The new template opens with a default set of widgets.

For a secondary method, you can also click New Template in the workspace header to create a template. Give your template a name and optional description, then click Create.

You can also create a copy of your current template using Create Copy — useful for branching a layout into a variant without starting from scratch.

Switch Between Templates+

Switch Between Templates

Open the designer FAB (floating action button) at the bottom-right of the screen and choose a template from the Switch Template submenu. Your current layout is automatically saved when you switch away.

You can also use the template selector dropdown in the workspace header to switch the active template — a secondary method.

Rename and Describe a Template+

Rename and Describe a Template

Right-click any template in the designer's tree pane and choose Edit. The Template Settings dialog lets you update the name and description. You can also access this dialog from the template context menu in the full-screen designer.

Delete a Template+

Delete a Template

Click the Delete button next to the template selector dropdown, or right-click a template in the designer tree and choose Delete from the context menu. You'll be asked to confirm before the template is removed.

Deleting a template does not affect your trades or data — only the saved layout is removed.

Favorite Templates+

Favorite Templates

Toggle the star icon next to a template name to mark it as a favorite. Favorited templates appear first in the template selector dropdown and in the left navigation when you hover the Analytics link.

Editing Your Layout

Edit Modes+

Edit Modes

  • Quick Edit — Click the pencil icon on the designer FAB (bottom-right of the analytics page). Edits happen inline while you see your live analytics.
  • Full-Screen Designer — Click the dashboard icon on the FAB, or choose Full-Screen Designer from the context menu (Shift-click the FAB). Opens an expanded canvas with a tree-pane layout browser.

Both modes share the same layout grid. Changes are staged until you explicitly save.

Adding Widgets+

Adding Widgets

In either edit mode, click the Add Card button (plus icon) to open the widget picker. The left panel lists all available widget types; the right panel shows a live preview as you configure settings.

Choose a widget, configure its options (such as the metric to display, the grouping dimension, or which stats to show), then click Apply. The new widget is placed on the grid and you can drag it to reposition.

See Chart Guide for details on chart widget configuration options.

Resizing and Reordering+

Resizing and Reordering

  • Resize — Drag the edge of any widget to make it wider or taller.
  • Reorder — Drag a widget's header to move it anywhere on the grid.
  • Remove — Click the × (or trash icon) on a widget. You'll be asked to confirm.

Pro tip: When dragging a widget near the edge of a scrollable area, the view auto-scrolls so you can position widgets anywhere on a large template.

Compacting the Layout+

Compacting the Layout

When widgets are moved or resized, other widgets automatically reflow to fill gaps — no empty space is left behind.

In the full-screen designer, the Compact layout button (wrench icon in the toolbar) aggressively collapses the entire layout, removing any remaining gaps in one pass.

Saving a template also compacts automatically, so your persisted layout is always tidy.

Saving and Canceling+

Saving and Canceling

Layout edits are staged — they are not applied until you save.

  • Quick Edit mode: Click the save icon or Save, or click the × (cancel) to discard changes.
  • Full-Screen Designer: Use the toolbar buttons:
    • Save — applies changes and keeps the designer open
    • Save and Close — applies changes and returns to the analytics page
    • Close — discards unsaved changes and returns to the analytics page

Pressing Esc closes the full-screen designer (without saving).

Full-Screen Designer

Designer Overview+

Designer Overview

The Full-Screen Designer dedicates your entire screen to building layouts. The left pane shows a tree of your page templates and their widgets. The right pane is the live preview — a 24-column grid where you drag, resize, and configure each widget.

The designer toolbar provides quick access to:

  • Add Card — open the widget picker
  • Compact layout — collapse the grid and remove all gaps
  • Close — exit the designer (Esc)
Template Tree+

Template and Widget Tree

The left tree pane lists all your page templates. Drag and drop template rows to reorder them — this determines the order they are displayed when switching templates. Right-click any template to open its context menu (Edit, Export, Share Link, Copy, Delete).

Widget Actions in Designer+

Widget Actions in Designer

Each widget in the designer preview shows two controls when you hover it:

  • Settings (cog icon) — reopen the widget picker to edit configuration
  • Remove (trash icon) — delete the widget from the layout
Copying Widgets Between Templates+

When you add or edit a widget, you can choose to Copy it to another page template. Select the destination template from the dialog and the widget — with all its settings — is added there. This is handy for reusing a chart configuration across multiple templates.

Widget Types

Chart Widgets+

Chart Widgets

Chart widgets visualize your trading metrics as interactive charts.

  • Bar Chart — Compare a metric (P&L, Win Rate, Trade Count, etc.) grouped by day, weekday, hour, symbol, or tag type. Bars can be vertical or horizontal.
  • Scatter 3D — Plot trades as bubbles across three dimensions (X, Y, Z axes) with configurable bubble size and color.
  • Heatmap Calendar — Calendar grid of daily metrics; quickly spot winning/losing streaks and seasonal patterns.
  • Cumulative P&L — Equity-curve line chart with optional multi-line grouping by account or account group.

Each chart widget has a settings panel (gear icon) for grouping, metric, orientation, axes, and tooltip stats.

See the Chart Guide for full configuration details for each chart type.

Special Widgets+

Special Widgets

Beyond charts, Gainway offers widgets that display stats, tables, logs, and other specialized views:

  • Stats Chips — A compact row of key metrics (total P&L, win rate, trade count, etc.) with configurable visibility and order.
  • Trading Stats — A table of core trading statistics, fully configurable which stats appear and in what order.
  • Account Balance — Current account balance summary.
  • Single Stat — One large metric display (P&L, win rate, etc.), ideal for a quick glance.
  • Data Table — Tabular breakdown of trades grouped by day, symbol, tag type, or session, with configurable columns and time windows.
  • Win % — Visual percentage of winning trades.
  • Profit Factor — Gross profit ÷ gross loss as a quick ratio.
  • Calendar — Month or continuous calendar view with stats chips.
  • Trade Log — Full log of trades with column settings and selection.

Widgets that display lists of statistics (Stats Chips, Trading Stats, Data Table) let you add or remove individual stats and drag them to reorder. All stats respect your active global filters.

Exporting, Importing, and Sharing

Export a Template+

Export a Template

Right-click a template in the designer tree and choose Export. The template is downloaded as a JSON file containing your widgets, chart configurations, and layout.

Import a Template+

Import a Template

When creating a new template or copying an existing one, the template dialog includes an Import button. Select a previously exported JSON file to load its widgets and layout into a new template.
